Helmut Schwanke

Helmut is a registered Level 1 Building Surveyor and a Fire Safety Engineer. He has 32 years of experience working as a building surveyor in local government, a building and policy officer in state government and as a consultant building surveyor and building certifier in the private sector. He also has 19 years of experience working as a fire safety engineer.

Helmut has in-depth knowledge of the National Construction Code, with a focus on utilizing the Performance Requirements to achieve flexible architectural building designs through fire-engineered performance solutions. Helmut has extensive experience applying the NCC requirements to low-rise and high-rise apartments, hotels and commercial buildings, industrial buildings and public buildings, including aged care and childcare buildings. Helmut has also conducted fire safety audits of existing buildings, including buildings with external combustible cladding to determine the life safety risk.

Helmut was a lecturer in the Graduate Diploma Building Surveying course at Curtain University and is the Building Surveying member and Deputy Chair of the Building Services Board which registers and disciplines builders, painters and building surveyors in Western Australia.
